Crispy Fried Chicken Sandwich. Just incredible. Yes, $11. No matter. I’d go down on a leprechaun to make the money. In and of itself a full meal, with cole slaw piled on. I recommend easy on the mayo, and light on the cheese. Scraped those off this today, and will go that way next time. Just unreal tasting though. Perfect, perfect, perfect.
Burger @ The Golden State, Los Angeles
August 15, 2011Excellent burger, one of my 5 faves in LA. This is a little 10-table joint where you order at the counter, collect your own utensils and condiments, then sit and wait with a number. It’s a little pricey for what is essentially a counter joint, but the burger was so good I can forget the money.
I took on the standard burger, which was beef, cheddar, arugula, aioli and ketchup (I subtracted the bacon). The bun was glazed and the whole thing was easy to handle – didn’t fall apart. Flavor combinations were great, especially with the slight bite of arugula. I had a persian cucumber side, which was well-dressed and tasty. I probably wouldn’t order the combo again as it comes with arugula, and there’s only so much greenery one man can take.

I wrote this piece about my Condiment Love and was surprised at just how many people read it (9,000 according to Google!?). I discovered a couple here that I didn’t know and plan to get my hands on some recipes to try creations at home.
